The Small Wonders program offered through the Sparks Parks and Recreation Department provides a full-time recreational, social atmosphere through a structured curriculum for ages 3 to 6 at the following program sites:

Children are engaged in fun weekly activities including craft projects, learning the calendar and days of the week, counting exercises, science projects, story time, outside play and singing.
The sounds and letters of the alphabet are taught through Zoophonics, a method of utilizing songs as a learning tool. Dramatic play is a favorite with students, tapping into their creative energy for dress up and playing make believe.
The traditional school calendar is followed at Marvin Moss, while the other learning center is conducted throughout the school year and during the summer break.
The learning centers are licensed through Washoe County's Social Services Department. The program director for each location has a background in early childhood education. Their respective staffs are required to take early childhood classes every year and are trained in CPR and are First Aid certified. The directors work together to design the curriculum and get input from area teachers on developing the skill sets children need to prepare for their entry into kindergarten.
Participants bring their own lunch and parents take turns bringing a morning and afternoon snack for everyone once a month. Lunch is followed by a two hour quiet time for napping.
