On Mother's Day, Sunday, May 10, 2009, the seventh annual Arts in Bloom festival will be held at the Sparks Marina Park benefitting the Northern Nevada Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Moms will be treated to a special day under the sun, and take home some of the region's finest assortment of artwork, enjoy fine food and popular entertainment, and participate in a special celebrity painted plate auction featuring the works of well-known figures such as Olympians Jackie Joyner-Kersee & Dara Torres, Beetle Bailey cartoonist Mort Walker, world-renowned artist Andre Miripolsky, KTVN anchors Kristen Remington & Wendy Damonte, Roberta Flack & many more. All proceeds from the auction will be contributed to the Komen for the Cure Foundation of Northern Nevada.
