Mike Carrigan was elected to the City Council in June 1999 and re-elected in June 2003 and November 2006. He graduated from the Naval Academy in 1973 and is a retired Naval Aviator with 24 years of service. Mike earned his Master's degree in Journalism from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1997. He is chairman of the board of the Truckee Meadows Water Authority and The Western Regional Water Commission. He is a member of the Regional Planning Governing Board, the Schools Oversight Committee, Sierra Arts Foundation and the State of Nevada and Washoe County Republican Central Committees. Mike is a member of the faculty at the University of Nevada, Reno where he teaches media writing. He and his wife Cora have two daughters.
