Video arraignments are held daily at 1:00 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Defendants are in-custody at the Washoe County Detention Facility and have not posted bail or are in custody on contempt warrants for non-compliance with prior court ordered conditions. Defendants are in a small courtroom at the Detention Facility and are able to see and communicate with the judge by video transmission. Persons observing video arraignments from the courtroom are not seen or heard by the defendant.
It is estimated that over 90% of all persons arraigned by video enter pleas of "guilty" or "no contest" or are found guilty of contempt and are sentenced at that time.
