MEDIA ADVISORY… MEDIA ADVISORY… MEDIA ADVISORY: Sparks to Break Ground on Largest Public Works Project - Groundbreaking set for Golden Eagle Regional Park
Sparks, NV- The official groundbreaking for Golden Eagle Regional Park (6490 Vista Blvd.) has been set for Monday, Aug. 20 at 10 a.m. The undertaking represents the largest public works project in the City's history. Additionally, 1.2 million square feet of artificial turf will be installed at Golden Eagle Regional Park, the largest project of artificial turf in North America.
Upon completion, Golden Eagle Regional Park will cover over approximately 140 acres east of Wingfield Springs. The facility will consist of six softball fields, two baseball fields, two youth baseball/softball fields, a stadium-size soccer/football field, two multi-purpose fields, and two concession stands, including a 7,200 square foot concession venue, and a maintenance facility. Stadium-size bleachers and parking will also be included in the sports complex. All athletic fields will be fully lighted.
Q&D Construction is the general contractor breaking ground on the $21 million second phase of park construction. Q&D recently completed the first phase of construction, a $1.6 million contract consisting primarily of earth moving to prepare level playing fields with drainage.
