THE CITY OF SPARKS HONORS SPARKS HERITAGE MUSEUM
Sparks, NV – At today's Special City Council Meeting, the Sparks City Council honored the Sparks Heritage Museum.
The Sparks City Council passed a resolution expressing "continuous gratitude and moral support to the Sparks Heritage Museum and its Board of Directors and encourages all Sparks residents, fellow Nevadans, and visitors to take time to learn more about our Sparks ancestors by visiting the Sparks Heritage Museum and supporting this noble effort to preserve our Sparks heritage for centuries to come."
"The Sparks Heritage Museum is a wonderful place to visit and learn about our city's heritage through the unselfish efforts of its Board of Directors and their many volunteers members," said John Mayer, Councilman of the City's Ward One. "I appreciate very much the hard work of the Museum's Board of Directors and the dedicated volunteers," he said.
The Sparks Heritage Foundation is a group of volunteer citizens who have collected, archived, and audio recorded for prosperity the history and heritage of the City of Sparks.
The Museum's volunteers have given educational discussions and tours through the Museum, Bicentennial Train, and Glendale School House on Victorian Avenue to countless numbers of residents, visiting tourists, grade school classes, conventions, and other interested parties. The museum was created more than 21 years ago and has grown substantially in size.
Additionally, the Sparks Heritage Foundation and Museum played an important role in last year's Centennial Celebration by providing the majority of the historical information used during the year-long festivities in Sparks.
The museum is located at 820 Victorian Avenue, on the corner of Pyramid Way and Victorian Avenue. Call 355-1144 for more information.
